Smarter Difficulty Visualization and More Accurate Time Estimates

Hello fellow trekkers!
We're excited to announce a new Easy Trek feature: terrain-aware difficulty visualization and improved hiking time estimates.
A New Altitude Profile
The new profile shows not only the elevation changes throughout a stage, but also the terrain difficulty along the route.
This makes it much easier to quickly understand the difficulty of a hiking day. Two stages with the same elevation gain can feel very different depending on whether the trail is smooth, rocky, steep, or technical.
At a glance, you can now visualize both the altitude profile and the nature of the terrain, when in a detailed view of the trek you're planning.
Combine It with Trek Customization
The new profile works particularly well with Easy Trek's customization features.
If a stage looks too difficult, you can easily:
- Split it into multiple days
- Choose a different accommodation along the route
- Create a more balanced itinerary
This makes it easier to adapt a trek to your preferences and fitness level before booking.
More Accurate Hiking Times
Additionally, Easy Trek's hiking time estimates have also been improved using additional terrain data and route information.
While terrain was already considered previously, the new model provides a more detailed understanding of trail conditions, resulting in estimates that better reflect the actual effort required on the trail.
As a result, you may notice that some hiking times differ from previous estimates.
